Emma Jane Unsworth’s first novel won a Betty Trask Award from the Society of Authors and was shortlisted for the Portico Prize 2012. She has worked as a journalist, a columnist for The Big Issue, and a barmaid. Her second novel Animals (Canongate) won a Jerwood Fiction Uncovered Prize 2015. She is writing a third novel and a memoir. She wrote the screenplay of Animals, currently shooting in Dublin, directed by Sundance winner Sophie Hyde (52 Tuesdays), starring Holliday Grainger (The Borgias, Strike) and Alia Shawkat (Arrested Development, Search Party). She is also writing for television.
